The Wedding Ring
The wedding ring, the outward and visible sign of your committed love, is traditionally a gold band worn on the fourth finger of the left hand. Some contemporary designs are incorporated into or with the engagement ring. Usually, today the man is also given a ring.
The giving of the ring usually follows the vows and may be accompanied by an exchange of appropriate words, such as:
"Mary/Bill, I give you this ring as a sign of my love and our friendship."
"Mary/Bill, I give you this ring as a token of my love. Take it and wear it as a symbol of all we are and all we share together."
"Two flames, one light. Mary/Bill, I offer you this ring as a sign of life and myself as your husband/wife. Let us walk together always, and let us always walk towards the light."
"With this ring I thee wed, with my body I thee worship, and with all my worldly goods I thee endow."
