The Funeral Service

A life celebration funeral service will have an opening that sets the scene for what is to follow…..the eulogy or telling of the deceased’s life story……an optional opportunity for tributes from family or others…..some time of quiet reflection as well as final words of farewell and committal.

Interspersed among this may well be readings, prayers, singing, music and performance of dance or entertainment. Occasionally a video of aspects of the deceased’s life will be screened.

Other aspects an experienced celebrant will consider with the family include the need for pall bearers……any armed forces or RSA representation in the service….whether it is a cremation or burial….is a hand-out service sheet required, and if so, what will be printed on it? (usually the deceased’s photo on the front)….will there be a memorial attendance register?….the location of any social gathering after the ceremony.

There are a lot of details that go into the structure and delivery of a good funeral service. A knowledgeable celebrant, generally recommended by the funeral director, can greatly assist the family through this time.

...Thank you for your help, your guidance, your empathy. We received many positive comments on the day and afterwards. It was superb. - Sandra & Brian
